Product Description The Koolatron Travel Saver 12-Volt Cooler offers a large 45-quart capacity and unique domed lid. Perfect for long road trips, the cooler can be plugged into your car's power outlet to keep up to 72 twelve-ounce cans cold. An optional AC adapter (sold separately) lets the cooler also be used wherever there is a standard household outlet. The cooler can also be used as a warmer for keeping hot foods warm for tailgating or picnics.

Poor Quality July 28, 2010 Bre I ordered this item the end of May 2010. We used it once to go on a day trip and put it back away. We pulled it out of the box in July and took it on a family vacation. On our way back home, the unit stopped working. Of course this was after the warranty expired. I contacted Koolatron about the issue to see what they recommended. They told me to check a fuse in the cord that runs to the outlet, which was not the problem. I contacted them again to ask what else I could do and they have never contacted me back. I would think this unit, for the price paid, should be more durable than to go out after one week of usage.
Koolatron P95 Cooler June 21, 2010 Eric Hubbard (Southern, MN) This is my first electric cooler and from the reviews I didn't know what to expect. The cooler works very well, plugged it in overnight by morning it was down to 30 degrees. Took the cooler up north it was packed full kept every thing cold for 5 days. Would have gone through alot of ice since it was 80 degrees out. You do need a pretty good size AC to DC converter, I picked up the Pyramid PS15KX 10A which is an overkill for this cooler, I just wanted something reliable especially since food is involved. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is that when I first used it, it was quite. Now it is making a little more noise which I got to go away by spraying some penetrating oil on the shaft of the motor. The noise did come back after a couple days of use.

Very satisfied with the cooler, as I have had several Coleman coolers and they only last about a year. Like the larger size too and it will cool completely from being off in less than an hour. Opens easily and is also quiet. Compared to ones have had before. This feature is good.
Shoddy latch. And beware of lack of packaging for shipping! April 22, 2010 MaHubs 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm updating my first review (below). The replacement arrived. STILL in only the retail box despite Amazon's rep PROMISING it would be packed in an outer box also.
This one didn't have a broken off latch. BUT we learned that Koolatron's latch is not yet a latch until you take off the plates screwed in to hold the latch in place and put take one piece off the bottom and into the lid's latch holder. Kooltron doesn't mention this, but this was no different on the first cooler either. It's just that the part that has to be moved was broken during its shipment.
So cooler #1 is going back to Amazon. And both Amazon and Koolatron get poor marks. No one who isn't married to a mechanical design engineer would have been able to get a working latch. (The latch design is poor/shoddy and should be rethought by Koolatron. But unless you see this unit in a store, you would never know to look at the latch....)

We just received this from Amazon. And for the first time, Amazon really dropped the ball. The unit arrived in the box that the manufacturer made, designed to go on a retail shelf. Amazon should have put THIS box in one of their own, with at least a smidgen of packaging. As a result, the latch on the lid is broken. (I should add that the latch is a flimsy little plastic piece.) A shame that there will be so much wasted time and effort just because of what? Laziness? Stupidity?
If you order this, write a note and insist on additional packaging.
I was able to call Amazon and they claim that the replacement is on its way soon and that it will be properly packaged.
The cooler, BTW, looks great except for the cheap flimsy little latch. I didn't know it from the blurb on Amazon, but the cooler has a removable tray that fits in it about half-way up. It's plenty room to put a plate of food or a take-out box etc.
I've given it three stars so far. The design was not great for the latch. However, we haven't used the cooler yet so my next review will review the cooler itself in more detail.

This cooler is adequate for traveling not as heavy duty as some other brands but does cool fine.
