| Customer Reviews: The best dehydrated meal we've had January 28, 2010 Scott Burgess (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Arriving at camp near Snake Indian River Falls, we stowed gear and hiked the extra couple clicks to the viewpoint overlooking the falls. An exquisite display of nature's raw power! After cooling our feet in the river, we returned to camp for the Mountain House Spaghetti. This meal is rated a five because we'd actually consider eating it at home in a pinch. Tasty marinara, substantive noodles, and slightly chewy chunks of beef. The only thing lacking is garlic bread and a side of asparagus. We've had this meal many, many times now, and enjoy it every time. Don't buy just one.
Disappointing lack of flavor August 28, 2008 Jessica Teel (Hawaii) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Mountain House Mac and Cheese was really disappointing. Despite having tons of sodium, there is very little flavor. The dish is quite bland. It also has tons of sauce and few noodles, making it more like a cheese soup than a pasta dish. Pass on this dish - but if you are searching for a good cheesy camping meal, try the Mountain House pasta primavera - it has tons of flavor.
Decent meal, but could be better May 7, 2007 Scott Burgess (California) We relaxed at Strawberry Creek again, the meadow there full of budding wild rose. Brief showers had cleansed the air in the Snake Indian valley, and sun returned to dry everything out. Dinner was Mountain House Chicken Stew. Potatoes and chicken weren't fully rehydrated at nine minutes, so we gave it five more. The stew wasn't terribly flavorful, something an infusion of spices might help. The textures of potato, carrot and pea were largely indistinguishable. Some bits weren't fully rehydrated even with the extra time. On the plus side, the stew is nicely chunky and the broth thick. While Mountain House could improve on this, we will continue to buy it.
