Amazon.com Product Description Tired of camping lanterns that burn through batteries like nobody's business? Turn to the Coleman rechargeable lantern, which offers up to nine hours of runtime on a single charge. The family-size lantern features an 11-watt fluorescent spiral U-tube bulb that shines brightly regardless of its locale, with a reflector that directs the light upward and outward so more people can enjoy it. Should the bulb burn out, the lantern offers a quick-release lever for easy bulb replacement (an extra tube is included). Most importantly, when the lantern starts to lose power, you can easily recharge the battery via a 120-volt AC outlet or a vehicle's 12-volt DC power port (cords included). That means you can recharge the lantern before leaving on a trip, or you can recharge it at the campsite using your car's lighter port. Other details include an "emergency on" circuit that helps overcome power failures, a built-in nightlight, and a recyclable battery. The lantern--which also runs extremely cool to protect against fires--measures 6.75 by 14 by 8 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 7.78 pounds. About Coleman The Coleman Company has been creating and innovating products for recreational outdoor use since W.C. Coleman started selling gasoline-powered lanterns in 1900. Inventor of the hugely popular fold-up camp stove, Coleman developed a plastic liner for his galvanized steel coolers in 1957--the birth of the modern cooler--and the company has been improving their utility and design ever since. The array of products that bear the Coleman name now includes just about everything you might need to work or play outdoors, from tents and sleeping bags to boats, backpacks, and furniture.

Good but wish it was brighter August 15, 2010 R. Lee (Hercules, CA) I bought this lamp based on reviews of others. There were other models that I looked at but I went with this one because many people said the light was bright, and that is what I wanted. When I received it, and I charged it for one day, I tested it out and the high setting, and low setting, seem to put out the same amount of light, and in my opinion, it wasn't that bright. I may have been expecting something more but it is bright enough for you to see, and to do things without having to use one hand to hold a flashlight. I haven't tested out how long it truly last and it is a bit heavy, because of the battery.
Great Emergency Light July 27, 2010 William R. Shomaker (Indiana) This is one of the best lights on the market. Not only is it super bright but it holds a charge for hours. This is the light to have for camping or just as an emergency light at home when the electricity goes out.
Love this lantern! June 25, 2010 Garden Jennie (Washington State) We have been using kerosene lanterns in the evening at our cabin with no electricity. We got this to use mostly in the kitchen, even during the day as there is no light coming in there. It works great! It's on its third weekend, and is still going on the one time I charged it at home before heading up there! We don't use the nightlight feature but it all works great! I would highly recommend this lantern to anyone looking for an effecient way to light the way without messy kerosene, or having to buy batteries!
Great Lantern June 22, 2010 Gail P. Voncina (Weatherford, texas) I purchased this for camping and patio use. We love it so far!!! Easy to use and gives off more than adequate light. It is everything I had hoped it would be and recommend it to others.
Finally decided to get one of these after 2 recent evening power outtages June 12, 2010 Joann (New Milford, PA USA) And of course now that I have something I can at least read by the power has stayed on! Well that's how it goes. But we live in a very rural area where outtages are frequent in the winter.
Of course we did test it out. The brightness is great, I did learn from other reviews that replacement bulbs are available at a reasonable price from Coleman.
The nightlight feature is nice (we keep it charged in a rarely used vestibule in the house, so it will be easy to find with that turned on.)
Only complaint is the switch is very touchy-can't even tell if it's on high or low. Honestly I would rather it be perfect but I didn't feel it warranted return shipping as I have read similar posts on other people's reviews -otherwise it's fine.
It also looks really cool-bought it as a gift for my husband, and he's thrilled with it! Uses it sometimes instead of a flashlight in our basement and attic for extra light in those dark places. Very useful, very safe.
