The MH230R radio features flexible charging options for ultimate mobility. Users can choose to charge in the included dual drop-in charger, or use the mini-USB port in the radio to charge in the car or connect to a PC. For remote adventures standard alkaline batteries can be used when no power is available. Additionally, hands-free communication is available by using the iVOX speech-activated feature, which provides active families the freedom of mobility in even the most remote settings.

MH230R Features

Keypad Lock
Lock your keypad to avoid accidentally changing your radio settings.

Channel Scan
Use scan to search the 22 channels for transmissions from unknown parties, to find someone in your group who has accidentally changed channels, or to quickly find unused channels for your own use.

Charging Options
You can charge the MH230 using the Motorola standard charging port (with the included charging adapter), the Drop-in cradle charger (also included), or purchase a mini-USB cable for use with the Mini-USB charging port, especially useful when traveling.

121 Privacy Codes
Interference Eliminator Codes help minimize interference by blocking transmissions from unknown sources. The MH230 features 121 codes for superior interference protection.

Includes drop-in dual charger for easy charging.

Brilliant LCD with battery indicator, channel, and other info.

Ten Call Tones
The MH230 can transmit different call tones to other radios in your group so you can alert them that you want to talk. Choose from ten different tones.

Hands-Free Communication
Use the iVOX feature to transmit hands-free without the need for any headset accessories. Once iVOX is turned on, the radio detects your voice and transmits when you speak into the internal microphone.

QT (Quiet Talk) Noise Filtering
The QT noise-filtering feature helps to ensure uninterrupted communication with other Motorola radios, filtering out unwanted transmissions from other radios. This is useful in places where there is heavy radio traffic, such as amusement parks or ski resorts.

Talk Confirmation (Roger Beep) Alert
You can set your radio to transmit a unique tone when you finish transmitting. It is like saying "Roger" or "Over" to let others know you are finished talking.

Weather Receiver
Tune in to broadcasts by the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio and Environment Canada Weatheradio. Both NOAA and Environment Canada have transmitters located throughout the United States and Canada, respectively. These transmitters broadcast watches, forecasts, and other information 24 hours a day.

Weather Alerts
A special alarm tone sounds an alert and turns on the weather receiver to give you immediate weather and emergency information.

Two MH230 Radios with Removable Belt Clips, Dual Drop-in Charger, Charging Adapter, Two 2 NiMH rechargeable battery packs

5 out of 5 stars happy   July 27, 2010
S. Hansen (CA USA)
I am very happy with my purchase. The battery power lasted over night to help my husband find one the next day where he lost one on the trail! I really loved the weather alert option. We used them on a hike at church camp, to keep the front hikers in contact with the slow ones. The only problem I have is understanding the rules about obtaining an FCC license to use certain channels, but that applies to all models. I would buy these again.

It works perfect, and I love it!
Especially the battery design that it can use AAA battery as backup.

4 out of 5 stars walkie talkie   July 23, 2010
R. Anderson (Canada)
the walkie talkie pair from Motorola does it again. used in a northern lake environment with lots of islands, tall trees and few direct lines of site, this pair worked very well. rechargeable batteries worked well and gave an excellent service length before needing a re charge. the only complaint for the product design was the quirky belt clip design. with jackets and coats on in a boat or moving object, the units were hard to retrieve and re clip to the belt clip. one unit was lost due to this problem (fell overboard). would strongly advise using a lanyard around neck, especially if you are working as two teams and require frequent communication with second party.

one could use the hands free ear bud and microphone, but this was a hind sight consideration. still; the price point and performance value was industry leading. Bought a second set.

5 out of 5 stars Better than most!   July 22, 2010
Jeepman (Louisiana, USA)
All in all, I think this is a great set of radios. I have used and still own two-ways from Cobra and Uniden as well and these have the best range and sound quality of all. Keeping in mind that no two-way that I have seen ever has the range stated, these do very well by comparison. If you note the owners manual, it says that maximum range will be achieved if one radio is high, as on a hill, and has clear line of site to the other radio.

The radios are very durable and it's easy to understand the menu functions. The weather alert works well, is easy to access, and helped me considerably on a recent trip to Colorado. Even though I intended to use them while hiking and sight seeing on vacation, they came in handy on the road trip to see what traveling weather to expect down the road.

I had these radios replaced by Amazon right after receiving them because one of the buttons didn't work on one of the radios. With only a week left before I went on vacation I was concerned that Amazon wouldn't get my replacement on time, but they did and with no hassle. Don't not buy them because of this. Sooner or later any electronic item, even new, is going to have problems. Still great radios and I would definately buy them again!

5 out of 5 stars Work Great!!   July 10, 2010

I bought these for moving across the country. We had 2 cars and a Penske. I was navigating with the GPS and needed to keep in touch with the other 2. It worked exactly as needed. The batteries held up pretty well. We charged them every night and also had a USB converter for a cigarette lighter to charge the one with lowest battery with while on the road. The range was really good. About a mile while moving. If they were out of sight I could still pick them up. We went for 3 days and no problems with them at all and we had them running for about 12 hours a day. Depending on your use I highly recommend them for the money. The first time we moved we bought cheapo $20 a pair ones and they lost signal with each other in 1/4 of a mile. That is why I wanted to spend more for something better. The reviews on this were good and they were right.
